Simone is a loner. She is married, has a son, is a passionate climber, and is sociable at work, but otherwise happily keeps to herself. She is infuriated by the bad press loners always get, as if being self-contained inevitably means a loner must be some kind of deviant, a serial rapist or terrorist even. She finally decides to make a silent protest on behalf of loners, climbing into a huge sculpture that stands in the campus of the UK’s Nottingham University, from where she dispenses pearls of wisdom on Post-it Notes in the manner of ‘Oblique Strategies’. The impact her vigil has on the university and town is seminal.
